The SchoolofIT.org, the online portal for Information Technology (IT) education is announcing today the creation of the IT Scholarship Program for Veterans, Minority Students and Teachers which will fund $25,000 dollars worth of ITCourse of Study, mentoring and internship placement. The Scholarship will cover the cost of the online training, the books and the mentoring to support two semesters worth of Web design and internship development work at a non-profit organization or small business.

“Clearly these are difficult times, the School of IT working with practicing Web professionals, industry and educators want to support veterans, minority students including African American, Hispanics, American Indian, the disabled and women in every way that we can.” said Bill Cullifer, School of Web executive director. “These scholarships will make it possible for more individuals to offer direct support and assistance to people in small business communities and at the same time will address the IT talent issue and the lack of the minority population in Information Technology Jobs. I am proud of this program and the support from the Web professional community that have come together to support this worthwhile program”

A recent report conducted by the Small Business Association of California reports a significant communication gap between those providing IT resources and services to small business. The School of IT Scholarship Program for Veterans, Minority Students and Teachers aims to improve that by connecting aspiring Web professionals with small business owners in a voluntary internship program.
